PERSONAL

MaryAnne Geivett Tebedo was born October 30, 1936 in Denver, Colorado. She is the oldest of four.

Living a few years in southern California, when her father worked for Bethlehem Steel near the end of WWII, she grew up in central Denver, attending St. Francis de Sales elementary and high schools.

MaryAnne married Don Tebedo in 1954 in Grand Junction, Colorado. They raised six children, losing their oldest daughter to kidney disease in 1957.

Don was a private charter pilot in Grand Junction before becoming an air traffic controller. He was transferred to the Pueblo, Colorado's Air Traffic Control Tower in 1958. There MaryAnne became active in politics, becoming a founding member of Belnor Republican Women's Club. She was recruited by the Republican Party to open an office for Colorado's own U. S. Senator Peter H. Dominic and served as his southern Colorado administrative assistant.

Don transferred to Colorado Springs Air Traffic Control Tower, later promoted to assistant manager. While raising their five children in Colorado Springs, MaryAnne was deeply involved in the community's political arena, serving on campaign staffs to elect local people to public office: county commissioners, legislators, congressmen, and governors. Her commitment and dedication to Ronald Reagan led her to accept the Co-Chairmanship of his El Paso County Presidential Election Committee and took her to two national conventions as a member of his Presidential election staff and Coordinator for Colorado's Youth for Reagan.

The very same people whom MaryAnne helped elect to public office asked her to consider public office herself, which she did in 1982, after her youngest child graduated from high school.
